Join us for a moonlight tubing trip on the Comal River. These are usually our biggest events of the summer. We'll start the cookout at 6:00 PM, and get on the river about 9:00 PM. If the sky is clear we should have a nice moon as it will be full on 8/31. Regardless, the lights of New Braunfels provide plenty of visibility if it's cloudy. We should be done by about 11:00, give or take. The float usually takes a couple of hours depending on water flow rate. Afterwards we'll head to one of the local nightspots.
The price is $20 in advance up until 5/30. After that and at the event the price is $25. You can mail a check made out to ACSA to 10634 Canyon River, Helotes, 78023. Or you can call me at 210-872-9949 and pay with a credit card over the phone.
Included in the price is tube rental, shuttle, and dinner. We'll be serving hamburgers and hot dogs, and have lots of chips and dips, veggie trays, etc., as well asa keg of Dos XX, soft drinks and Kangen water. You are also welcome to bring anything to share if you'd like, but it's not necessary. It's BYOB on the adult beverages other than the Dos XX. Remember, no glass or styrofoam is allowed on the river. You may want to bring a lawn chair for the cookout.
The Comal River, at about 2 1/2 miles in length, is said to be the shortest river in the world. It is entirely within the city limits of New Braunfels until it joins the Guadalupe River just upstream from IH 35. It has a year-round temperature of 72 degrees, and is quite comfortable on a hot Texas Summer evening.
If you get cold easily, you might want to consider wearing some type of windbreaker. They are usually made of nylon and dry quickly. A cotton shirt will just hold water next to your skin and keep you cooler.
Some people will be going early and doing a float at 3:30pm. If you'd like to do the day float too, there is no extra charge.
If you are planning on staying in New Braunfels overnight, you should make hotel or camping reservations as early as possible. A suggested place to camp is Landa RV & Campground, right next to Texas Tubes.
